My New S60 D5 - Sunday 7th August 2005, 11:18

As promised (slightly late) here are some pictures of my new chariot!

I love it to pieces.

Plans are to get her serviced, new tyres all round and a new headlamp as the n/s one is holed slightly.

Mods will be a RICA tune and i may get the grey bump strips painted body colour.

As your T5 is RICA'd you would find a considerable loss In BHP however a RICA'd D5 Produces the same torque as a RICA'd T5 so they still shift.

My T5 was standard same as my D5 is still standard and I can honestly say that although the D5 only has 163bhp (at the minute) it still pulls just as well as the T5 on overtakes etc even better in some respects and it pulls like a train for longer and you need less downchanges.

I changed for the reason of better fuel economy but knew that i would still have alot of power on tap with a D5, so, i bought one

Once my D5 is RICA'd i don't mind you having a try of it to see if it suits you.

Regards

Andy

No not really, i love the comfort aspect but i suppose if i was to go onto 18" peg's in the future it would be terrible not to lower it to enhance the looks.

Diesels don't need lots of power to go as well as petrols. Top end, when diesels run out of torque and gears they start to slow down, but usually around 100mph. I think Adam needs to offer his car as a demo to help the odd needy T5 owner

Nearly forgot to say - top car Andy, looks mint

You've got to be doing over 100 mph for a T5 to have the edge over the D5.

Adam.

is that riced or standard?

I still dont understand - I trailed a 330d and had to brake a couple of times to reel my car in - the 330d is a 3 litre the D5 is only 2.4 - so what makes the D5 so special

riced! there are two variants of the 330 d - one with only 184 bhp, and one with over 200 bhp.

Adam.
