As before, I ain't got a lot of money to throw at this right now, so not interested in paying £300 plus for a cat back system, or more for a turbo back system....

I am loathe to fork out the near on £200 for a Forge kit, and am looking to do it in two stages. I was planning on firstly removing the recirc valve and blanking that off with the correct Forge blanking plate, then secondly, fitting a dumpvalve (probably secondhand). There may be a week or two between those operations, due to funds...

Am I correct in thinking that running with no valve for a period, will be OK, given that the T5 does not run high boost?

Got a c70 x reg t5

Been having a flat battery for a few days and then power is a little low and car not perky or at it's best.

Then today the battery light came on the dashboard. So got the volt meter on it and it was like it was surging about 1/2 second cycles. The light on the dashboard was surging at the same cycles.

So changed the battery with a spare on I had and ruled that out as the problem.

It has been said it could be a clutch pulley belt issue or alternator issue. Before I send to get fixed i was just wondering if anyone on here knew of it as a common fault and if there was a more simpler fix available.

I've just brought my first T5 and so far i'm very happy with it.
It's a 2000 'V' Reg C70, 86,000 miles, service history, long MOT, 3 months tax for the grand sum of £1450.

I have a lot to learn when it comes to these engines so plan to stick around and observe and ask a fair few probably stupid questions.

I have read that mine will be the 'ME7' engine so i'm glad that someone has already beat me to the pros and cons thread :).

I'm looking forward to getting to know a few of you guys and hope to have a long and fulfilling Volvo ownership :)

The car is JUST what i want, but I am unsure about this "new" engine management.

therefore what are the pro/con??

Is it as reliable as ALL my others have been ?

I have to answer the dealer tomorrow (saturday) so it is a bit urgent...
